Hello Again

For a fortnight I have deprived you of my enchanting and amusing words of enrichment, and for that I am sorry. But it is I, and you, who should seek apology. What we have witnessed over the preceding eight games has been deplorable.

I realize that I am using harsh language, but letting up four PPG goals in a game really grinds my gears.

To be completely honest though I was not able to watch the last game against Philadelphia, I was unfortunately in a small town called Boston; however it was for a good cause, I saw a lovely play entitled “Gary”. It was brilliantly directed and the performance was astounding; but I digress.

Seeing the highlights of this performance invoked feelings of anguished which I could continue to spew, however I truly do not feel like boring you with my personal believes of something that I did not witness first hand.

Although I did notice something very interesting while perusing THE POCKET BIBLE. The last stretch of our season games are going to be very difficult seeing how we play the penguins, flyers, Devils and the gers. These games will hopefully only help us in two ways; one way is that we will beat these teams and propel ourselves into the playoffs, or second we lose these games and help aide THE DERS obtaining a low draft pick.

Personally I hope for the second possibility, because I am personally sick of being marginal and I am willing to sacrifice a lose in the first round of the playoffs this year and even next year to build the team back up to greatness.

Dead Line Passes: Outcome – Fantastic!

DERS fans REJOICE! The surgical operation to remove the malignant cancer, that is chris simon, was a complete success. I am simply flabbergasted at the fact that not only a team was interested in acquiring this disgrace, but that they were willing to give something up for him in return. I was prepared to offer him and a few million dollars to any team willing to take this {expletive deleted}, but I digress.

It was not a great day of movement for the DERS but it was good. Simply the departure of simon made this transfer season a successful one, however there were more managerial maneuvers made by the DERS in an attempt to facilitate in the rebuilding of the great dynasty.

Looking at the moves that were made, I feel that we are at least attempting to make strides in the right direction. With the acquisition of Rob Davison and departure of simon and M.A.B. we have really bolstered up our defensive ability. We lost a defensive liability and gained something the team desperately needed: a defensive defenseman, who is not injured.

Also the addition of the third and sixth round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft is a nice bonus that can really only help the DERS. Many people may say “Its a third and sixth round pick, who cares?” All I have to say to that; Henrik Zetterberg – seventh round.

Although no big deals were made, like trading Satan or even TANK, I am still happy that we purged ourselves of that abomination. With that trade alone I no longer care about the fact that we will lose to Ottawa in the first round of the playoffs this year.

DERS Haiku's

Too many, these men are mere mortals; however to the few dedicated followers they are gods. They hold the power over not only the team but the destiny and lives of the pawns they control. On the verge of Tuesday’s 3 pm trade deadline, these demigods are put to the test. Pressure builds, minds race, the future hangs in the balance of their decisions. Whether or not they should pull that hypothetical trigger and make that blockbuster deal that could either solidify an already stellar lineup or perhaps provide the team with the essential building blocks for the future is something that only these select few have been designated to make.

As I type, there are hundreds, literally hundreds, of people across the World Wide Web putting in their two cents, on their own blogs and websites, about what there favorite teams should do. However this posting will not be one of those, it is however like many of my writings, poetry.

For those uneducated readers out there I have two things to say. First why are you here? I will do you a favor and direct you to something more appropriate, Click this and get out. Second these poems are called Haiku’s. I hope you enjoy.

Hunted Down

Early on Friday morning Garth Snow was silently stalking his prey. He target – a 6-foot-3 210 lbs. winger who doesn’t fear digging in the corners; a very impressive endeavor for even the most seasoned General Managers.

The scene was set; Garth had positioned himself perfectly on the grassy knoll over looking DERS Country. Armed with a $10 million dollar cap space and an owner willing to spend money to make money, Garth took aim with a steady hand. His pulse never rising and his vision never fading Garth squeeze the trigger.

BANG!

Disrupting the peaceful silence surrounding DERS Country, Garth had found his target.

I haven't been able to write due to my prior educational commitments, I will hopefully be able to write more in the next few days.

Mediocrity Dead Ahead

Over the past few games I have, once again, gotten very excited about DERS hockey. I mean that THE DERS are finally back to winning games. However, this probably short-lived jubilation is met with mental desolation.

We are once again caught in the whirlwind that is mediocrity. We have been stuck in this pattern for the past decade. We go on a solid winning streak, winning 6 or 7 out of 9, only to be matched by a greater losing streak of something like 3 for the next 15. It is a pattern that one must get used to as a DERS fan.

I hate to be a Negative Nancy but THE DERS have to stop this. I hate being good enough to be 9th or 10th in the conference or just barely make it into the playoffs only to be eliminated in the 1st round. A change is needed. And the only thing I think that can really get us in the right direction is to have a high draft pick for the next few years.

Let me probe your mind and inquire about your opinion. Would you rather be 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th for the next 5 to seven years or would you rather finish last for the next few years and draft young goal scores. And in the process build around a few young guns and solid veterans and potentially advance past the first round of the playoffs.

With next years draft packed with potential offensive talent like Steven Stamkos, Nikita Filatov, Evgeny Grachev (along with other like Mattias Tedenby Kyle Beach, Anton Gustafsson Dmitri Kugryshev, Viktor Tikhonov, Colin Wilson, Cody Hodgson) and next years draft being lead by John Tavares and Magnus Pääjärvi, I think that we could finally find that 40 plus goal scorer somewhere in the next two years that THE DERS are desperately in need of.

But back on to the current DERS.

They are once again winning, and you want to know why? I know why, they are they are playing the only way that will allow them to win, by doing two things. First they are finally shooting, and shooting a lot. Its my personal motto “If you shoot 50 times your bound to get something in.” And also they are placing our big guys in front of the net. Just look at TANK, he has 4 goals 1 assist on 11shot and is a plus 1. Why, because he has his 6 foot 2, 195 lbs, ass in front of the net. THE DERS are just a big group of goofy goons who will pretty much only score the garbage goals, but hey they are still goals.

Yea H. Duff may be able to squeeze through the defense and make a fancy play but guys like TANK are not all that agile and will only succeed in front of the net.

But there winning and I’m just rambling. I just hope that if they are going to win they better win in the post season, and not finish in the middle of the league. I hate being marginal.
